RETREATS

"The retreat was a wonderful opportunity to work closely with Jon to refine my yoga practice so I could go to the next level or just to better understand my body at my level.  Plus the beach and the food were heaven!"

I went on Jon Witt's Tulum retreat in 2016 and I brought my husband who does not do yoga. Besides the retreat being a fantastic mix of yoga classes in a lovely open air studio looking over the beach, swimming, and eating delicious food, with a small group of wonderful people, my husband loved the retreat too! (He even tried out a few classes.) Everyone, whatever one's level, was made to feel welcome. Jon tailered the classes to all levels. Winnie--Jon's wife--assisted in the classes, often with yoga straps to help us get into stretches, and with aromatic herbs. Winnie's warmth and skill maximized our yogi experience.

It was my first yoga retreat, and we are excited to return! It was a magical five days doing yoga, swimming, and relaxing on the shores of the Mexican Riviera.

"My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful time on Jon's retreat at Amansala in Tulum. The yoga classes were lovely with a lot of attention given to each student, by both Jon and Winnie. The three classes offered throughout the day varied.  The accommodations were comfortable and the food was fresh and delicious at every meal. The hotel was right on the ocean and there were outside activities that we enjoyed as well. Overall, we felt very relaxed and rejuvenated.  I highly recommend a yoga retreat w Jon."

"This past Spring I had the privilege of going on a Yoga retreat to Tulum Mexico with Jon Witt. It was an experience that I will hold close for a long time. Arriving at the Amansala resort which felt in all the best ways far from NYC and the holds of a too busy work life I stepped right into the gentle, wise, calm and caring teaching of Jon. We had three opportunities to practice yoga each day. (These were not mandatory, you could do all or as many as you decided were right for you). I chose all and am so glad I did. The AM practices at 8 were a wonderful way to wake up the body and greet the day. The yoga studio was an open room with magnificent views of the water and the waves. My body felt happy to start the day with intention and then end with a delicious breakfast prepared by Amansala.

The afternoon practice at 2 PM was one in which we tackled either more challenging postures or worked on injuries we might have. Jon was able to give us all a lot of individual attention and in addition as a group we bonded and were all so mutually supportive of each other. I felt such improvement in my practice each day. It was very gratifying.

The last practice of the day was a restorative practice with contemplative time. The sun was less harsh then and we could face the West where it would eventually set and feel the change in light as it occurred. It was a great way to close the day and then have a bit of time before we all headed off to a delicious and well prepared meal in the dining room on the beach.

Jon was frequently assisted by his lovely and accomplished wife, Winnie whose magic hands also helped to guide us into better and deeper postures. Jon's ability to teach to all levels, make things simple and clear and to authentically encourage you to listen and learn from your own body is rare. He is a deeply kind and gifted teacher. I look forward to a repeat next year as two months later I still feel the effects of all we did together.
